Each physician is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for both Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. They remain in the forefront of their field through ongoing research and continuing medical education.
Lawrence B. Holt, Jr., MD, FACP
As part of the focus on total patient care, Coastal Cancer Center provides counseling and support services by a clinical social worker. Issues faced by patients and their families include the emotional impact of diagnosis, coping with treatment and its side effects, and adjusting to changes in lifestyle. In addition, patients also face many health care decisions that demand careful consideration. Counseling provides an opportunity for patients and family members to sort through their feelings and concerns, develop coping skills, and improve the quality of their lives. For more information, visit the Patient Support section.

Nurses
Coastal Cancer Center’s nurses are an important part of your healthcare team. They have specialized training in oncology, hematology, and chemotherapy administration and are knowledgeable regarding treatment regimens and side effects. The oncology nurse is sensitive to the needs of patients and their families. They are available to offer education and are able to discuss all aspects of care. Our nurses also help with telephone calls to evaluate and assess the patients’ needs and concerns regarding their treatment and medical conditions. They work closely with the physicians to deliver optimal care and are in a key position to provide for the complex needs of our patients.
Clinical Research
Coastal Cancer Center brings new cancer therapies to patients by offering opportunities to participate in clinical trials. Patients wishing to join a trial can speak with their physician to find out what is appropriate for them. For more information, visit the Clinical Trials section.
Laboratory Technicians
Coastal Cancer Center’s laboratory services enhance a patient’s treatment process. Specially trained personnel conduct the tests necessary to track a patient’s progress and assist with follow-up care in the convenience of one location.
Diagnostic Technicians
Our diagnostic technicians perform additional tests necessary for the diagnosis and treatment process. X-Rays and CT scans are performed at our Myrtle Beach office, and Bone Density tests are conducted at the Conway office.
Medical Assistants
Our medical assistants aid physicians and nurses with clinical aspects of a patient’s care. Medical assistants greet patients, check vital signs, escort patients to the exam room or treatment suite, and schedule appointments for outside tests if needed.
Patient Representatives
Patient Representatives assist patients with insurance coverage, payment plans, reimbursement or any other financial concerns.
Drug Assistance Representative
Our Patient Representatives will refer any patient needing financial assistance with treatment costs to our Drug Assistance Representative. A number of pharmaceutical companies and other organizations offer patients who meet certain financial guidelines assistance with aspects of their care that are not covered by insurance, such as drug expenses or service co-payment costs. Our Drug Assistance Representative works with patients through the application and approval process.
Registrars & Medical Records Staff
Coastal Cancer Center’s registrars are the first people patients see when they arrive for an appointment and the last they speak with before leaving. Registrars greet patients, assist them with any necessary paperwork, and schedule future appointments. The registrars and medical records staff ensure records are available and complete for your appointment.
Insurance & Billing Representatives
As a courtesy to our patients, Coastal Cancer Center”s Insurance and Billing Representatives file claims to your insurance carrier for services rendered at our office. They ensure all payments are properly reimbursed according to your benefits. Our insurance representatives also assist patients with follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
Location Supervisors
Each office has a supervisor who oversees the day-to-day operations of the office and staff. If you have questions, concerns, or need assistance, feel free to speak with our supervisors at any time.
Human Resources Director
The Human Resources Director recruits and interviews all qualified prospective job candidates. Available positions are posted in the local daily newspaper, The Sun News.
