David S. Oliver

DO, FACP

Dr. David Oliver grew up in Endicott, New York, where he developed a love for golf, competing in high school and in the New York State Amateur Golf tournaments as a teenager. He went on to attend Syracuse University, earning a degree in psychology and biology before pursuing medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Oliver was awarded a military scholarship through the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), which allowed him to serve as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy while completing his medical training. He served on active duty from 2011 to 2022, ultimately leaving with an honorable discharge at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

He completed his internal medicine residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia. Following residency, Dr. Oliver served as Chief of Internal Medicine Residents, overseeing the education, scheduling, and day-to-day operations for 40 residents and interns. He then served as Associate Program Director for the internal medicine residency program for three years. During this time, he was selected by the Chief of Naval Operations to establish and lead an Executive Medicine Clinic, providing comprehensive health and wellness evaluations for 1-4 star admirals and generals across the Navy and Marine Corps. Alongside this role, he cared for active duty sailors, dependents, and retirees, practicing both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine.

Initially drawn to critical care, Dr. Oliver found his true calling in hematology and oncology under the mentorship of Dr. Todd Morris. He values the deep relationships formed with patients and the ability to guide them through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. His clinical interests include classic hematology such as CML, CLL, and anemias, with a special focus on multiple myeloma. In oncology, he is particularly interested in gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and lung cancers.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Oliver has been married for 11 years to his wife Dianna, a physician assistant. They have a young daughter, who is about to start first grade. The family fell in love with Myrtle Beach for its scenery and the warmth of its people. Dr. Oliver enjoys golfing, watching his daughter play softball and soccer, cooking and grilling, and taking on home improvement projects.
